Music in Motion is the small company formerly known as Creative Cardio which featured the cardio/dance classes (including Zumba Fitness) and DJ services of Michael Thomas and me, Melissa Mazanec. The company began in 2010 and still exists as a one-stop party providing service which offers DJs, Photography and Photo Booths and décor for weddings and other events under the name Music in Motion. Michael and I continue to provide all of these services with the assistance of family members and close friends including the Creative Cardio Crew of performers. Music in Motion also provides Zumba Fitness and musical theater classes and private lessons and sessions (dance, DJ, photography, and more) under the Music in Motion Performing & Recording Studios. Approximately two years ago, Music in Motion launched Creative Events by officially partnering with the award-winning Fork in the Road Catering Services whose owner Scott Cullen has been one of my close friends since childhood. Scott and his Crew are able to cater anything from Gourmet Grilled Cheeses and Gourmet Sandwiches to a Delicious Buffet or design a custom-made full elegant sit-down dinner right from his amazing Food Truck. Continuing with the goal of family owned and run services, Music in Motion and Fork in the Road have presented the community with Creative Events featuring the One-of-a-Kind Pop-Up Party Package (party food, entertainment, decor and pop-up bars and bartenders), which has impressively taken the price of the average wedding in New Jersey from $35K to under $10K! When I had the idea to add the Pop-Up, Light-Up Bar (because I knew Michael could build it and I understood the liquor laws enough to legally bypass a liquor license, hence saving the client loads of money), I told Scott. Scott recommended we bring David Wilkins, an experienced, certified and insured mobile bartender with lots of great reviews, into the project. Once I began working with David to incorporate this unique package, I knew he was the right fit!
A Creative Events Wedding is not just some low-budget, plastic table-clothed, firehouse wedding either…this is the REAL THING! We have the same quality linens (and there’s a color-scheme choice) as normal venues plus we provide all of the décor including lighting and centerpieces to match your theme and vision. We also provide the option for you to work with our design team to custom-make centerpieces, favors and other décor. And it’s organized because everyone works together as one whole unit as opposed to the usual wedding, where the DJ; Photographer; Maitre D; wait staff, etc. do not know each other and therefore must quickly acquaint and organize themselves in literally ten minutes before the wedding starts. We created this unique package because we knew we could do it better! As DJs, we were always left to control everything anyway because Michael and I are leaders and always overly prepared. And of course, our Musical Theater performances are the most complicated creative event we do! We have to utilize all of our professional DJ skills and equipment to provide the sound, music, and lighting for the show; handle the videotaping and production; do costumes and scenery for the actual performance plus handle the seating, décor, and tables for the audience all while directing a show with children (and we usually perform). So if our Family can do that, I figured there’s nothing we can’t do. And I was right! Every time we do these Pop-Up Weddings and Parties, the clients and guests can’t stop thanking us. We did a Mock Wedding at Toms River Fitness & Aquatic Center in August, and the owners couldn’t even believe it was their aerobics studio.
I chose to make this my career because I believe in the quality of life. Music in Motion’s mission is to bring joy to people’s lives and teach people that quality of life is more important than quantity. Wedding planning and putting on events and shows may not cure diseases or help ones livelihood, but without the quality of life, what’s the point, right?
